Anyone who knew Luis knew that with the exception of his friends, a sense of family was something profoundly missing from his life. He fled from his home life as a teenager, preferring to be homeless in New York City. But for all these years, his Uncle Tom and Aunt Linda had been looking for him, worrying about him, caring about him. They never gave up, and recently they finally found him, through the internet and Luis' fame as a filmmaker. This page is a tribute to them, and to the de la Regueras he found in Mexico, who made such a difference in Luis' life in such a short amount of time. I could see the change in him, the peace he finally got from their love, and the connection he now felt to the strength of all his kin who came before him. Tom de la Reguera gave Luis an incredible set of photo albums, which with his permission I'm going to scan some of and post on this web site. The Fernandez de la Regueras are a great family, with a bold, rich history...and Luis was one of them. |
